Tennessee football has a huge opener against the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Volunteers vs. WVU highlight our predictions for week 1 of 2018.

The first week of the season is here, and it’s time for our weekly picks. Tennessee football has a good one for us to cover, as they open against the No. 17 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers, a very exciting opponent.

But the Vols aren’t the only team in the SEC with an exciting opening game this year. They are one of five teams facing a Power Five opponent, and three of them are against Top 25 opponents. So that makes for a few exciting games to cover this opening week.

Last year, our sole picker went 99-41 overall, 64-61-2 against the spread and 65-60 on the over/under throughout the regular season. This year, we have three predictors. AllforTennessee editor Caleb Calhoun returns with co-editor Billy Williford, and the two will give their takes along with contributor Garrett Sanders.

Just as we did last year, our picks on a weekly basis will involve every SEC team and every game involving two Top 25 teams. We’ll each pick every game outright, and then we’ll pick the spread and the over/under for all games not involving FCS schools. Each week, we’ll come back here and track how we all did the previous week on all three categories and how we’re doing on the year.

As always, we’ll pick games in the order of which they’re schedule to air and then close out with the Tennessee football game. This week, that involves 14 SEC games and two others involving two Top 25 teams.

So we’ve got an unusually high numbers of games to pick for you, which is usually the case for the first couple of weeks before conference play begins. Now, you’ll have three of us to track to see who gives the best advice on the games and where to bet.

With sports gambling getting more popular across the country now, this can only get more exciting. So who do we have this week? What are the big points of contention. Let’s go ahead and figure that out. These are our picks for Tennessee football, SEC and other Top 25 games ahead of Week 1 of the 2018 season.
