Eastern Illinois Panthers at Arkansas Razorbacks

Saturday, Sept. 1 at 4 p.m.; Razorback Stadium; Fayetteville, Ark.

TV: SEC Network

Just like Jimbo Fisher with the Texas A&M Aggies, the Arkansas Razorbacks are beginning a new era under an offensive minded head coach. With the hire of Chad Morris, they’re going  back to the spread, which Tennessee football is abandoning. But we’re not going to have any read on it with this outing.

As you’re noticing, there is an afternoon to evening slate of awful games in the SEC, and this is one of them. The spread is difficult to pick up early, but it won’t matter here. The Hogs win running away in a very boring outing. And they’ll leave us all questioning why we have games like these.

Extending the trend of horrible games to watch in the SEC the Arkansas Razorback host the Panthers from Eastern Illinois. Why am I complaining? College football is back, and so are the Razorbacks. Okay, not really, or at least I do not think so. However, Chad Morris seems like a nice guy coming up with creative ways to dish out scholarships to his walk-on players.

Maybe, he can be as creative with his offensive play calling and upset a few teams this season. Speaking of upsets, can the Panthers do it and ruin Morris’ debut. Yeah, probably not going to happen. I like Arkansas, and I like them big.

This will be Chad Morris’s debut as the HC of Arkansas. Eastern Illinois is coming off of a decent season from a year ago, but their offense was below average. The Panthers defense though was very good at stopping opposing teams from converting on third down’s. This is a game where they must continue that trend if they want to keep close with the Razorbacks.

The Razorbacks run an Air Raid Offense. However, they will not shy away from pounding the rock all evening against the Panthers. This style of Offense will have its wrinkles to iron in for the first couple of games, but that’s okay! This is Eastern Illinois we’re talking about, not Alabama. This will be a light scrimmage game for the Hogs.
