3. “Jeremy Pruitt is as bad as Butch Jones.”

I’ve heard this on a lot too. Jeremy Pruitt is no different than Butch Jones. If you happen to be someone who believes this you couldn’t be more wrong. Do you honestly think Butch would have gone for it on fourth down? I’ll answer that for you. Not a chance.

  • Pruitt doesn’t do anything the same way that Butch did. Honestly, it is not even fair to compare the two coaches. This is only year one. Heck, it is just game one, and people are losing their minds about how Pruitt is another coach that is going to fail at Tennessee.

The outcome of this game didn’t show us if Pruitt can coach in crucial moments of the game. However, I’m willing to bet if he has Florida down by two scores with only eight minutes to go, his Vols would win the game. The same logic applies to any team. Butch let big leads slip more often than not.

So, Vol nation, this shouldn’t even be a comparison. In only one game I see a better football coach in Pruitt than I ever did in Butch. Give the man some time. You never know, he still could lead the Vols to a seven-win season.

Worrying about the outlook of the program after losing one game is ridiculous. Jones, Derek Dooley and Lane Kiffin all won their coaching debuts on Rocky Top in a blowout. How did they turn out?
