Jeremy Pruitt and the Tennessee football team host the East Tennessee State Buccaneers on Saturday. Here are five Buccaneers to watch for in the game.

In the second game of the 2018 Tennessee football season, the Vols will host the East Tennessee State Buccaneers. This will be the first time head coach Jeremy Pruitt runs the the “T” in Neyland Stadium.

The kickoff is set for 4:00 pm as the two schools play for the first time in their storied histories. You might be thinking what is so storied about East Tennessee State. And, without research, I was too. However, they have been playing football since 1920.

Further research shows that the Buccaneers have recently started playing again after a decade away. From the years 2004-2014 there was no football being played for the program. However, they are back and look to stay.

I said a storied history and not a successful one for a reason. Only twice since in the history of their program have the Bucs won at least ten games. The most recent successful season came in 1996 under Mike Cavan as they went 10-3.

Arguably the best season came in 1969 under the leadership of head coach John Robert Bell. He led East Tennessee State to a 10-0-1 record that season.

Just like last week for the West Virginia game, in this post, we are going to break down the top five players to watch for against the Vols. Of course, this is for players only but keep in mind former Volunteer and coach Randy Sanders will be on the sideline for the Buccaneers. And, he has been on record saying he will run home naked if his East Tennessee State Bucs beat the Vols.
