  • He spent the past three season breaking records for the Georgia State Panthers. He played tight end for Georgia State where he ranks ninth in career receiving yards with 688. Last season, Werts had 22 receptions for 275 yards.

On ETSU’s website, Werts is listed as a 6-foot-4, 235-pound wide receiver. That is a big receiver that will be asked to run a lot of fade patterns over an inexperienced Vols secondary.

In the last game against Mars Hill, Werts only had two receptions, but he did rack up 59 receiving yards.

He has the experience of playing college football so we wouldn’t be surprised if he is an early target for quarterback Logan Marchi.

If the Vols aren’t careful, Werts could end up near double-digits in receptions and maybe a touchdown or two.
