Tennessee football vs. ETSU: 5 Buccaneers to watch for against Vols
No.1 – Logan Marchi, Quarterback
Speaking of college football experience. Quarterback Logan Marchi has it. Marchi comes from Temple hence the picture above.
He played in seven games last season for the Owls and threw for 1,658 yards on 136 completions. He didn’t play horrible. However, his touchdown (9) to interception (8) ratio wasn’t very good.
Playing in Neyland isn’t going to scare the junior quarterback. In the first game of the 2017 season, Marchi led his team into Norte Dame and scored 16 points with two touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Marchi isn’t afraid to throw the ball around. In two games last season he threw for over 300 yards. His highest passing yards came in a 28-24 loss to Connecticut when he threw for 356 yards with one touchdown.
There have been some folks take the stand that Marchi will be the best quarterback on the field come Saturday which is laughable. Last season in a 20-13 loss to the Houston Cougars Marchi threw one touchdown to three interceptions.
One thing Vols quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has never done is throw three interceptions in one game. Well, he actually hasn’t even thrown three interceptions playing quarterback for Tennessee.
I will say, Marchi will have a good day, but that isn’t because he is the best quarterback on the field. It’s because the secondary just isn’t good…yet.
