Alabama State Hornets at No. 7 Auburn Tigers

Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m.; Jordan-Hare Stadium; Auburn, Ala.

Auburn took care of business last week against Washington just like I said they would. Jarrett Stidham was picture perfect in the passing game and proved that Auburn doesn’t need a running game to win. Let’s also not forget that Auburn’s Defense looked sharp as well.

The Hornets offense was helped last week in many of their drives leading to penalties that resulted in first downs. Don’t expect the same to happen with Auburn. I would be extremely flabbergasted if Auburn allowed any points on the scoreboard this Saturday. They are just too talented to let Alabama State score. Only time will tell.

Yet another SEC team that looked great in week one. The Auburn Tigers, a team the Vols have to play, controlled the entire game against a highly talented Washington Huskies team. I picked against Auburn and LSU. Boy do I feel dumb.

This week is one one of those yawn games that no one cares to watch. In fact, I won’t even know if Auburn wins until some Tigers fan comes out because I hated on their team in week one. Auburn might have the best defense in the nation, and I’m calling for a shutout this week against Alabama State.

The Auburn Tigers proved they may be better than we thought. That was a huge win over the Washington Huskies, a program that returned a lot of talent and is very well-coached under Chris Petersen. Gus Malzahn clearly has the program in good shape with a win like that. Tennessee football is in trouble having to go to Jordan-Hare.

This week, Auburn takes that elite defense onto the field against Alabama State. They should have on trouble cruising to victory. Meanwhile, Jarrett Stidham’s offensive line can have more time to gel. So yeah, go to sleep on this one. The Tigers win easily.
