NFL Football: Former Vols vs. Week One of the NFL season DraftKings edition
Gambling is becoming more relevant in America especially in the sports world. And, it is going to continue to grow. Here is DraftKings edition for Former Vols in the NFL.
A lot of people in the media and public eye hate on the Tennessee football program. And, I suppose they have every right to. The Vols haven’t been good. In fact, they have sucked, to be honest. However, there was some talent on those Butch Jones’ rosters, and now that talent is playing in the NFL.
We hope to bring you this piece each week recapping the week before and previewing the current week. Of course, there are some players that are VFL’s like Josh Dobbs and Tyler Bray, but they don’t see the field unless an injury takes place.
So, in this post, we will only highlight the players that should make an impact on their respected teams.
Running Backs
Saints – Alvin Kamara $8,500
Alvin Kamara busted on the scene last season in Week Four. On DraftKings he was only at a price of $3,900 and scored 25.6 points. That impressive performance included five rushing attempts for 25 yards. He also added ten receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown.
By the end of the season, Kamara was around the $8,000 range and one of the most expensive running backs in the league. If you want him in Week One against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, you’ll have to pay a pretty penny. But, if there is one thing Kamara has proved, it is he is worth the money.
Rams – John Kelly $3,500
It’s not often that you want to play a backup player on your team. However, Rams running back John Kelly might be the one. He isn’t listed as the true backup, but he had a strong preseason. Kelly ran for 197 yards on 46 attempts and a handful of touchdowns.
It might be too early to take a flyer on a $3,500 running back. Plus we don’t even know if he will play. However, I think Kelly will b a good play at some point during the season.
Wide Receivers
Bengals – Josh Malone $3,000
At the current moment, Josh Malone is listed as the fourth wide receiver on the Bengals depth chart. Malone will get his opportunity for a few snaps. It will be interesting to see how much Andy Dalton targets the former Vol.
Steelers – Justin Hunter $3,000
Justin Hunter is another former Vol that has the talent to make plays in the NFL. However, the production hasn’t come, just yet.
We all know about arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL Antonio Brown, he will get most of the targets. But, it only takes one long bomb to Hunter to make his $3,000 price tag worth it.
Patriots – Cordarrelle Patterson $3,500
Tom Brady is arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the league. And, one of the great things about Brady is he always finds a way to spread out the ball. That could be good news for Cordarrelle Patterson.
Julian Edelman is serving his four-game suspension, so Patterson should be the third wide receiver. His cheap $3,500 price tag could easily be worth it.
Tight Ends
Bills – Jason Croom $2,500
This is where things get interesting. Former Vol, Jason Croom is listed as the third-string tight end for the Bills. As we all know now, Nathan Peterman is the starting quarterback, and he looked awful comfortable throwing to Croom in the preseason.
Could that mean extra playing time for Croom? I suppose we will see soon enough. $2,500 is a good price, but you shouldn’t take the chance just yet.
We will keep you updated next week how each player performed with maybe some new Vols making our list to watch in Week Two of the NFL season.
