We now move onto the teams in our SEC Power Rankings that actually have a quality win over a Power Five opponent on their schedule. This starts with the Auburn Tigers. Gus Malzahn’s team is still riding high after a huge win over the Washington Huskies on opening week.

That win was significant enough that playing an FCS team wasn’t going to drop them too much this week unless they looked ugly doing it. Well, winning 63-9 doesn’t look ugly. It was another dominant offensive performance, and this team looks like it could be one of the biggest threats to win the SEC at this point.

Auburn did drop, but that’s only because another team had an opponent that allowed them to jump up the rankings. They are still in the top four at this point, and there are about to be plenty of chances for them to move up.

Still, they showed they can play physical by going up against Chris Petersen’s Huskies, and the high-scoring affair against Alabama State showed the offense has still got it. So Tiger fans have to be pretty happy about where they stand at this moment. It’s still early, but they appear to be picking up where they left off down the stretch of the regular season last year.

In fact, that chance will begin this week. A win Saturday will affirm how good these guys are. They open the SEC season with a chance to potentially shoot up to the top of our SEC Power Rankings, as they face the next team on this list.
