Just like the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Florida Gators have yet to beat an FBS school this year. Also like the Hogs, Florida is undergoing a transition from a basic pro-style under Jim McElwain back to a spread offense under Dan Mullen. Add in their transition to a 3-4 defense, and this was bound to be a rough year in Gainesville.

That showed this past Saturday, as this team lost to the Kentucky Wildcats for the first time in 31 years. Not only did they lose, but they lost at home, and UK controlled most of the game. And they were playing in The Swamp. The problem is that people put way too much emphasis on this team with all its returning starters.

There are too many transitions going on in Gainesville, and those transitions made it very likely that they would struggle a lot this year. People should have seen it coming instead of overhyping them so early.

Well, right now they are next to last in our SEC Power Rankings. The Kentucky team they lost to is not a good one. Those guys only beat the Central Michigan Chippewas 35-20. Saturday was much more about Florida struggling, and it signals issues that could arise throughout the year.

This week, Florida has the Colorado State Rams, who just beat the team below them in these rankings, the Arkansas Razorbacks. So yes, they have to win at all costs to stay away from falling into last place themselves. But it looks like that could be difficult.
