You could make a case about the Missouri Tigers not belonging above the Ole Miss Rebels. After all, we do weigh Power Five wins. But we also weigh struggles against FCS teams, and that is what happened to Ole Miss. As a result, for now, we have these guys ahead of them at No. 9 in our SEC Power Rankings.

Mizzou so far appears to be adjusting well to the pro-style that Derek Dooley brought to the offense. Drew Lock and co. took a while to get going early this past Saturday, as they had multiple drives stall in the first half and had a turnover.

However, once these guys got going, there was no stopping them against the Wyoming Cowboys. What we’ve seen is that even in the new system, these guys know how to score fast. That’s a great thing for Barry Odom’s team, and his defense appears to finally be finding its form.

As a result, Missouri right now is looking pretty solid. This week, they have a chance at a Power Five win to move to 3-0. And it’s actually a huge game. These guys travel to the Purdue Boilermakers, who may be 0-2 but did beat this team last year 35-3. So this is the game where the new offense really shows what it can do.

A win will have Mizzou fans riding high, as they will already be ahead of last year’s pace, which included that strong finish to the season. And it could be just the momentum they needed before hosting the Georgia Bulldogs the next week. So despite being No. 9 right now, watch out. These guys are dangerous.
