Just like the Vanderbilt Commodores, the Kentucky Wildcats have two wins over FBS teams. Unlike the Vanderbilt Commodores, Mark Stoops’s guys actually have a win over a Power Five team as well in the Florida Gators. That’s what puts the at No. 7 in our SEC Power Rankings.

Kentucky has to be riding high right now. Ending a 31-year losing streak to Florida has to be huge, and they didn’t just win. They pretty much controlled the second half until the end. So these guys could definitely be the real deal.

After two straight winning seasons, such a victory could mean a third is on the way and even greater things than that. Given how weak the East is, watch out for the dangers Kentucky could present. However, don’t get too excited about this team just yet. We have to bring a bit of perspective into what the Florida Gators are going through.

UK is in its sixth year with Stoops as head coach. Florida is undergoing a change to a spread offense and a 3-4 defense after a 4-7 season last year. Simply put, the Wildcats were perfectly positioned to get that win.

Still, at 2-0, they are in the top half of the league to start the year. And that’s impressive. By hosting the Murray State Racers this week, they are almost certain to move to 3-0. Then they have a huge home game in what will likely be an SEC battle of two undefeated teams against the next program in our power rankings. Let’s move onto them.
