Tennessee football vs. UTEP: 5 Miners to watch for against Vols
No.4 – Nik Needham, Senior Defensive Back
Staying on the same side of the ball and in the same position group, defensive back Nik Needhman makes our list of Miners to watch.
The 5-foot-11 cornerback from Buena Park, CA was only a two-star prospect coming out of high school. His sole offer was from the Miners although Fresno State and Nevada showed interest.
You wouldn’t know Needhman was a two-star prospect by his style of play. He plays with confidence and is one of the best defensive players on the team.
The past two seasons he has registered over 50 total tackles both seasons. Last season was his best season with 59 total tackles with 4.5 of those being for loss with one sack and one interception.
Needham has even played a little bit of offense this season. He has one reception for 18 yards. We wouldn’t be surprised at all to find the senior defensive back lined up on the offensive side of the ball a few times.
Like Beverly, Needham could be apart of a big play during the game if the quarterbacks aren’t careful. The Vols have more talent on offense, but you know how these games go. Sometimes they are walkthroughs. Don’t be surprised if Needham gives Tennessee a wake-up call.
