Tennessee football vs. UTEP: 5 Miners to watch for against Vols
No.1 – Kai Locksley, Junior Quarterback
Finally coming in at the top position is quarterback Kai Locksley. You’ll understand why after this next sentence. The kid has wheels.
Locksley almost has as many rushing yards as he has passing yards on the season. He has only completed 19 passes in two games for a total of 177 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
On the ground is where he gets busy. Locksley has carried the ball 38 times, 23 more times than running back Quardraiz Wadley. He has accounted for 169 yards on the ground with two touchdowns.
Yes, I know it’s UTEP, and yes I know they are on a 14-game losing streak. However, Locksley is a dual-threat guy, and those types of quarterbacks always seem to burn Tennessee.
There were a few folks that thought Logan Marchi was going to be the best quarterback on the field when ETSU and the Vols met but that wasn’t the case because of the athletism of the Tennessee defense.
I think the same applies here. Locksley is explosive and very talented. He might have a few big plays that will make you turn your head. But, at the end of the game, the Vols defense will prevail more times than not.
