Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at No. 16 Mississippi State Bulldogs

Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Davis Wade Stadium; Starkville, Miss.

TV: SEC Network; Line: Mississippi State -33.5; Over/Under: 64.5

Garrett Sanders

Andre Nunez coming off an impressive season opener. This is good for Nunez and company because the Bulldogs secondary has not been yet tested in their first two contests. However, there is one problem.

Nick Fitzgerald. Mississippi State’s offense will be even be more impressive than they were in their first two match-ups. This is an easy game to pick. The Bulldogs will take care of business as they usually do and win this game.

Mississippi State: 52 Louisiana Lafayette: 14 (Mississippi State -33.5; Over 64.5)

Billy Williford

I was big on Mississippi State last week against Kansas State. That game wasn’t even close and honestly could have been worse. There is a good chance the Bulldogs start the season off 5-0 heading into a matchup with the Auburn Tigers.

The Ragin’ Cajuns won’t be ready for Mississippi State. I could see this game getting out of hand in a hurry. Nick Fitzgerald will have a big game as he settles into action.

Mississippi State: 48 Louisiana: 13 (Mississippi State -33.5; Under 65.5)

Caleb Calhoun

The Mississippi State Bulldogs covered with ease and kept their dominance going in Joe Moorhead’s second game last week. As a result, there’s plenty of reason to believe in them as a dominant program, especially with former Tennessee football defensive coordinator Bob Shoop in the same role there.

However, MSU will not cover. That 33.5 spread is way too high, especially when you consider the fact that they didn’t cover that against a Kansas State Wildcats team going through a major rebuilding phase right now. I’ve got my money on Louisiana Lafayette keeping things close for a bit while the MSU offense pulls away in the second half. It’ll be a blowout win, but they won’t cover that point spread.

Mississippi State: 45 Louisiana Lafayette: 17 (Louisiana Lafayette +33.5; Under 64.5)
