Missouri Tigers at Purdue Boilermakers

Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Ross-Ade Stadium; West Lafayette, Ind.

TV: Big Ten Network; Line: Missouri -6; Over/Under: 65.5

Garrett Sanders

Missouri should avenge from last year’s 35-3 loss to the Boilmakers. Drew Lock will also not have the same outcome as he did last year. Missouri’s offense is much improved, and it will show. Meanwhile, Purdue is average. They are missing many pieces on both offense and defense.

The offense has no explosion outside of Rondale Moore. Their defense hasn’t been playing anything but average, especially when you consider the two offenses they have faced in Northwestern and Eastern Michigan. The Tigers will take advantage of the Purdue defense and light them up in the secondary. In the end, Purdue won’t have enough offense to keep up with the Tigers.

Missouri: 38 Purdue: 20 (Missouri -6; Under 65.5)

The Purdue Boilermakers are straight up awful. They are 0-2 on the season with a loss to Northwestern and Eastern Michigan. Eastern Michigan, really?

No chance their first win of the season comes against a high-powered Missouri offense. Quarterback Drew Lock has been masterful this season.

He is 52-of-70 for 687 yards with eight touchdowns and no interceptions. I don’t think Purdue will be able to stop the passing attack and keep it close.

Missouri: 36 Purdue: 21 (Missouri -6; Under 65.5)

Last year, the Purdue Boilermakers destroyed the Missouri Tigers 35-3 en route to a surprising 6-6 year. With the success, Tennessee football almost hired Jeff Brohm in the offseason. But this year, they are 0-2 and look awful. Meanwhile, the Missouri Tigers are 2-0 and have an offense that can score fast with former Tennessee football head coach Derek Dooley now as their offensive coordinator.

Between the former Tennessee football coach and the almost Tennessee football coach, the former Tennessee football coach will win out. Dooley’s offense behind Drew Lock will torch what is a horrible Purdue defense. In the process, the Tigers will cover with ease. The only way they don’t hit the over is if Purdue doesn’t score enough. I don’t see that happening.

Missouri: 49 Purdue: 31 (Missouri -6; Over 65.5)
