Tennessee’s offense will have a lot of fun in this game. UTEP is not very good on defense. But the Vols offense won’t have it as easy as they did last week. Yes, I’ll admit it, Jarrett Guarantano looked a lot better last week, and I expect that to continue. But he still has a lot of work to do.
The running game was half decent week and could have been better. Ultimately though, Jeremy Pruitt has this defense well coach. This defense is well coached, and it looks fantastic. The Vols secondary impressed me last week. They managed to not allow East Tennessee State to complete most of their passes. I believe Jeremy Pruitt knows he has something going with this secondary.
Ultimately, it will only get better from here. It will show this weekend. UTEP has an awful passing game. Expect a lot of turnovers here in this one. Tennessee will look sharp once again. This will help their confidence going into next week’s matchup against Florida.
Tennessee: 45 UTEP: 3 (Tennessee -30.5; Over 47.5)

Another game that no one cares about. However, this is yet another game the offensive can improve against game action. And, all the young guys will get another game under their belt, which can’t go understated with the SEC slate upcoming.
I honestly, think Tennessee will sleepwalk through this game for a while. They don’t have the confidence yet to go out and bury teams from the start. Much like the game against ETSU, Pruitt will get mad and get the boys going and it will turn into a blowout.
Tennessee: 38 UTEP: 14 (UTEP +30.5; Over 47.5)

Tennessee football may actually have a worse opponent this week than they had last week. The UTEP Miners are that bad, and it’s another dull game for Jeremy Pruitt’s group before the real season starts against the Florida Gators. You can bet that this team will be looking ahead and that they are not good enough to look ahead.
As a result, the Vols will have a sluggish start before pulling away in the second quarter. UTEP will have three first-half turnovers, and that will be enough for UT to get a comfortable lead. However, the Miners will break off a few nice running plays in the second half to keep the Vols from covering. It’ll also help us hit the over in this one.
Tennessee: 45 UTEP: 17 (UTEP +30.5; Over 47.5)
