Vanderbilt Commodores at No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Saturday, Sept. 15 at 2:30 p.m.; Notre Dame Stadium; Notre Dame, Ind.

TV: NBC; Line: Notre Dame -13.5; Over/Under: 52

Garrett Sanders

This game is an upset waiting to happen. If Notre Dame showed up the way they did against Ball State, they will lose. Vanderbilt’s passing attack has been fantastic. Kyle Shurmur has four passing touchdowns and has made very no errors. I think that Vanderbilt will win the turnover battle. Not only that, I think they’re going to make it a four-quarter battle.

Even though I do believe that Notre Dame’s defense will adjust in the second half, Vanderbilt’s defense has shown me they can stop this Irish Offense. This will be enough for Vanderbilt to pull off the upset. Trust me, it will be a fight to the very end, but it’ll be a sweet moment for the Commodores in this one.

Vanderbilt: 28 Notre Dame: 24 (Vanderbilt +13.5; Even)

Are Derek Mason and the Vanderbilt Commodores on a mission to shut me up? Look, I’ll be honest, I didn’t have much faith going into the season. And, honestly, I’m still not sure I do, however, the Commodores have looked impressive in the first two weeks of the season.

Now, they travel to Notre Dame, a team we have in our top eight power rankings for the College Football Playoffs hunt. The Irish looked great to start the season with a win against Michigan.

I think this game is a tad bit closer than the 14.5 spread. I could see Vanderbilt play tough till the fourth quarter. They have only given up 17 points in two games. That’s impressive no matter the opponent.

Vandy is 2-0 ATS spread this season. Both teams are 0-2 on the O/U.

Notre Dame: 31 Vanderbilt: 20 (Vanderbilt +13.5; Under 52)

Remember last year when everybody was high on the Vanderbilt Commodores before the Alabama Crimson Tide brought them back to life? After that game, the only team in the SEC that was worse than them was Tennessee football. I’m of the mindset that the same thing is going to happen in this game.

Derek Mason and Vandy are not ready for Notre Dame. The Irish will come out and dominate from start to finish. It will be an ugly affair that once again. Brian Kelly’s team is refocused after a scare against Ball State last week, which was largely after a letdown from a huge win over the Michigan Wolverines in Week 1. And I still believe that the Michigan team Notre Dame beat is great. So they will shock everybody with anger this week and dominate, but it will be with defense. Take the under.

Notre Dame: 31 Vanderbilt: 14 (Notre Dame -13.5; Under 52)
