Tennessee football’s 24-0 win over the University of Texas El Paso had many standout players. Here are the top Volunteers performers against the Miners.

A series of mistakes throughout the game left a lot to be desired in Tennessee football’s 24-0 win over the UTEP Miners Saturday. Jeremy Pruitt said as much in his postgame press conference, noting that his players did not practice well all week, and it showed in the game.

However, in a 24-0 win, there are generally some clear standout players. And that was definitely the case for the Vols as they made their way to a 2-1 record this past Saturday. Of course, it’s hard to get a good read on any of these players yet.

After all, Tennessee football has blown out an FCS team and arguably the worst team in the FBS over the past two weeks while starting the year with a blowout loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers. So any standout play by anybody has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Still, we’re in the business of giving out helmet stickers for each game, and there are definitely some players who deserve our Smokey Points for this week. A couple of guys are familiar faces on here, and then there are some new players who are finally starting to show what we expected from them.

All of these players will be valuable going forward as the Vols get set to begin SEC play. The one saving grace for Saturday’s ugly affair is the fact that everybody was probably just waiting for this week to be over so they could start looking forward to the Florida Gators.

So let’s go ahead and recognize the guys who deserve credit for Saturday’s win, knowing that against their caliber of opponent, they were really just doing what they were supposed to do. These are our top 5 Tennessee football performers in their 24-0 win over the UTEP Miners.
