The Tennessee Volunteers remain near the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings following Week 3 of the 2018 college football season.

After three weeks of college football and the horrendous start to the season that the Big Ten has had, our SEC Power Rankings appear to be a very good determinant of where teams belong in the national standings. Well, that is unless you’re a couple of teams at the bottom who have some bad non-conference losses.

Okay, yes, Tennessee football is one of those teams with a blowout non-conference loss. They are among three teams in the league to lose a non-conference game, but two, including the Vols’ one, involved a major uneven playing field. One team that has two losses, well, we just can’t defend.

But this will all be reflected in our SEC Power Rankings for the week. There are still six undefeated teams in the league right now and a few others with very good losses. On top of that, the rankings will be much easier to trim this week with two of the SEC games featuring undefeated teams going at each other.

With this being the first weekend coming up that involves the majority of SEC team playing other SEC teams, we’re finally about to get a read on where everybody truly stands in these rankings. But until then, we still have to guess a bit.

As always, these rankings are not based on projections, and they’re no longer based on anything that happened last year. We solely base these on how a team is playing at this particular moment. If things are murky, we’ll rely on previous weeks to judge that.

For now, though, it’s very clear who’s in the top three, even if the order may need to change, and who’s at the very bottom. Everything else can change up on a dime. So with the knowledge that things are about to get crazy here, these are our SEC Power Rankings following Week 3 of 2018.
