Just like the Vanderbilt Commodores, the Texas A&M Aggies are 2-1 with two blowout wins over mediocre schools and one close loss to a very good school. Now, Vandy has more FBS wins than Jimbo Fisher’s team right now with two. Also, their loss was on the road.

That would make a case to put them ahead of Texas A&M. However, the Aggies’ loss to the Clemson Tigers is far more impressive. Not only is Clemson significantly better than the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, as they would be the best team in FBS were it not for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but Texas A&M played them much tougher.

The Aggies were a missed call on a dumb rule anyway and then a failed two-point conversion away from winning this game. That’s how close it got. Their offense is playing lights out right now, and they have a lot of momentum heading into SEC play.

Texas A&M’s momentum to begin SEC play, however, will be tested immediately. This week, after facing the second best team in the country two weeks ago, the Aggies have to face the best team in the country in the Alabama Crimson Tide on the road. Talk about a brutal start to the schedule!

Still, after that this team gets a series of winnable games, starting with the Arkansas Razorbacks and Kentucky Wildcats at home and then a road trip to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Their goal should be to get to 5-2 before their showdown against the next team in our SEC Power Rankings.
