Former Vols in NFL: Alvin Kamara leads the way in Week 2
Week 2 of the NFL season is in the books and here is a look at how former Vols performed. No surprise, Alvin Kamara led the way, again.
After two weeks of NFL games, there are a lot of former Vols getting their opportunities in the NFL. Last week Alvin Kamara had an outstanding game to lead all Vols. And, this week he does it again.
If I’m Sean Peyton, I find a way to get Kamara the ball every single play, and I’m not even kidding about that. He is a dynamic playmaker and is a threat to take it to the house anytime he touches the football.
Kamara finished the games against the Cleveland Browns with 13 carries for 46 rushing yards and added six receptions for 53 yards. He was kept out of the end zone for a touchdown but did score on a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.
Carolina Panthers rookie Rashaan Gaulden played a sufficient role in their 31-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He played around 30 snaps on defense and how two tackles. As the season goes on Gaulden should receive more snaps and becomes a difference maker on that defense.
Derek Barnett is doing Derek Barnett things. He started for the defending Super Bowl Champs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Barnett registered three solo tackles with one tackle for loss.
Still listed as inactive, we are all anticipating the return of Eric Berry. He is coming off surgery for a torn Achilles and could be available this week for practice according to reports. Of course, Berry immediately makes the Chiefs defense better. As they currently stand one of the worst defenses in the league when it comes to total yards allowed.
All in all a pretty solid week for former Vols in the NFL. As always we will keep you updated with any news from VFL’s in all of the professional ranks.
