He didn’t play last year because of a season-ending injury. And we all know of the offseason drama surrounding Jauan Jennings. It took a good bit of work just to be able to get him back into rhythm, as he could even practice with the Vols in the spring.

However, Jennings seems to be working his way back into the lineup. And on Saturday against the UTEP Miners, he had an appearance with a touchdown reception. It lends credence to the idea that the coaches were holding out for this game to turn him loose. That’s why we have him on the list.

When you talk about Tennessee football legends against the Florida Gators, Jennings is one of them. Two years ago, he had one of the most iconic plays of the decade for the Vols when he burned Teez Tabor for the go-ahead touchdown grab. His image high-stepping down the sideline into the end zone is still very clear in the minds of all Vols fans.

By the way, Jennings didn’t hold back his trash talk after that either, and he shouldn’t have. Now, though, he’s returned to back it up. Tabor isn’t there, but the Vols need their big playmakers. We know that Jennings is a guy who can change plays and games on a dime.

As a result, despite seeing limited action so far this year, Jennings is one of the crucial Vols in this game. Their offense needs big-play guys who come through in big moments of big games. Jennings has proven that’s who he is.
