No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs at Missouri Tigers

Saturday, Sept. 22 at Noon; Faurot Field; Columbia, Mo.

TV: ESPN; Line: Georgia -14; Over/Under: 64.5

The first game of the SEC slate should be a good one…for a half. I like a good upset, but I just don’t think Missouri has it in them. The only thing working for the Tigers is the game is at home and a noon kick.

Georgia is basically a new Alabama of the SEC East. They have wrapped up a trip to Atlanta. As the season goes on, they are only going to get better barring injury.

Missouri won’t be able to score enough points on the Bulldogs defense. Plus Georgia has scored 40 points or more in each of their first three games.

It wouldn’t shock me if Drew Lock had a field day passing the ball. This Missouri offense is one of the best in the country. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about their defense. Georgia has a fantastic balanced offensive attack that will take control of this Tiger defense.

This will be for sure Georgia’s toughest test all year long so far. Missouri should come out swinging the bat early and get a few points in for the first half. However, Kirby Smart will adjust, and the Bulldog defense will settle down in the second half. At the end of things, Georgia’s balanced offense will be enough to get the victory.

The Georgia Bulldogs have covered, and dominated, throughout the start of the season. I said early on the Missouri Tigers on the road would be their toughest SEC East match-up on the year, and I’m sticking to it. The question, though, is if it’s still going to be tough enough. Can the Tigers refocus after such a thrilling win over the Purdue Boilermakers?

I vote no. Mizzou’s quarterback in Drew Lock still hasn’t proven himself against elite defenses, and he won’t do it on Saturday. The Tigers will give the Dawgs a fight, but it won’t matter. Kirby Smart will have his defense ready, and they’ll pull away. But Lock and former Tennessee football head coach Derek Dooley’s offense overall will still put up points, so take the over.

Georgia: 48 Missouri: 28 (Georgia -14.5, Over 64.5)
