Kent State Golden Flashes at Ole Miss Rebels

Saturday, Sept. 22 at Noon; Vaught-Hemingway Stadium; Oxford, Miss.

TV: SEC Network; Line: Ole Miss -28.5; Over/Under: 75.5

Billy Williford

I’m going to assume that Ole Miss is glad they get a break from SEC play. Alabama put it to them last week. That’s what happens when you play the best team in the nation.

This is a new week, and the Rebels are a 28.5-point favorite against Kent State. Ole Miss can score the football, well that is on everyone but Alabama. But, 75 is a lot of points considering Kent State only scored ten points on Penn State last Saturday.

Like every game Ole Miss has played this season, there will be plenty of fireworks to show. Unlike last week, Kent State’s defense will be overpowered. Expect Ole Miss to return to their usual selves this week on the offensive side of the ball.

Kent State’s defense will be exploited all game long. This will be a blowout for the Rebels.

As a David Cutcliffe disciple, Tennessee football fans have a soft spot for Matt Luke. As a result, that bloodbath against the Alabama Crimson Tide was brutal for this team last week. They at least get a breather this Saturday against the Kent State Golden Flashes.

The Ole Miss Rebels will go back to putting up lots of points, but for a noon game a week after a blowout loss, they’ll have a sluggish start. How do you refocus after getting beat that badly? It’s nearly impossible. As a result, Luke’s kids will win and cover, but they won’t score enough to hit the over.
