I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I get wait to watch the South Carolina and Vanderbilt game. There is actually a lot riding on this game. If the Commodores can beat the Gamecocks on Saturday, South Carolina will fall to 0-2 in the SEC.
Last Saturday Vandy went into South Bend and honestly should have beaten the Fighting Irish. I think I’m going to look back on this season and say I was totally wrong about Derek Mason and Vandy.
Vanderbilt is 5-4-1 against the spread in their last ten games when playing South Carolina. However, they are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games.

Vanderbilt certainly has the talent ruin a South Carolina team that had high expectations coming into the season. However, don’t let the Georgia game fool you when evaluating this team. That Georgia team is special. With South Carolina getting some time off, it will benefit them in the long run of things.
South Carolina’s defense will be much rested and ready to go. Jake Bentley will have his offense in check and move the ball. South Carolina will need to move the ball effectively and keep the Commodores offense off the field. They will manage to do that and keep their winning streak against Vanderbilt going to ten straight years.

The Vanderbilt Commodores proved me wrong last week by taking the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the brink. Derek Mason clearly has a team, and that’s just one more tough game Tennessee football has to deal with this year. That’s brutal, and they have a chance to really make a statement this week.
I already thought Will Muschamp’s South Carolina Gamecocks were overrated heading into the season. But they then let me down by failing to at least cover against the Georgia Bulldogs. So now I have no faith in them. Vanderbilt will upset the Gamecocks at home on on Saturday in a defensive slugfest. And Mason’s team will prove it’s legit.
