Arkansas Razorbacks at No. 9 Auburn Tigers

Saturday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Jordan-Hare Stadium; Auburn, Ala.

TV: SEC Network; Line: Auburn -30; Over/Under: 57.5

Billy Williford

Each week I keep telling myself Arkansas isn’t that bad. Arkansas isn’t that bad. And, yet each week I wake up, and Arkansas is that bad. Say what you want about Tennessee but the Vols would beat the Razorbacks by 50.

I think Auburn will get off to a slower start after losing to LSU is such dramatic fashion. However, as the game goes on the Tigers will get into a groove and start pulling away. Maybe this is the wrong way to beat but until Arkansas shows me something I’m staying clear.

Arkansas should have a better offense with changing quarterbacks. Auburn’s secondary isn’t that bad of a secondary, but the Razorbacks should get the yards on the stat sheets to improve their passing numbers. Overall, it could happen, but it’s likely a bit of a reach to say.

Expect Jarrett Stidham to throw the ball all over the Razorback defense. Also, Auburn’s defensive line will be too much for the Hogs offensive line. Auburn will score without question. When they do, and Arkansas tries to answer back, they will be denied. This will cause them to get behind real quick. Overall, this will be an ugly game for the Razorbacks.

Before the season started, I would have considered this a ridiculous line. But the Arkansas Razorbacks are a really bad team. They easily surpassed Tennessee football as the worst team in the SEC even though the Vols haven’t proven anything yet. Now, Chad Morris’s team is in for a brutal showdown against the Tigers.

Fortunately for the Razorbacks, former Tennessee football defensive coordinator John Chavis is familiar with Malzahn’s spread. Unfortunately for the Hogs, their defense still isn’t familiar with Chavis. And the offense isn’t familiar with Morris’s system yet, while Auburn’s defense is loaded. So this is just going to be ugly all the way around.
