Tennessee football report card: Grading the Vols in their loss to Florida
Tennessee football did have some positives in a 47-21 loss to the Florida Gators. Here are the grades for the Volunteers units overall.
Lots of things did not go right for Tennessee football on Saturday in their brutal loss to the Florida Gators. The turnovers were obviously the biggest story. But on the offensive side of the ball, every unit was responsible for at least two of those turnovers in some way.
On defense, things were going a lot better at first, but the unit struggled to handle adversity. Also, they seemed to disappear right as the offense found its rhythm in the second half, so while the bulk of the blame for this loss lies with the offensive turnovers, the defense doesn’t get a pass.
As we get set to bring you the Tennessee football report card following their loss to Florda, it’s worth noting that Saturday was not a passing grade overall. That’s basically the understatement of the year. There were far too many errors made by players in every aspect of the game, and outside of the random mistakes, some units just performed poorly overall.
We’ll break down who deserves the most blame, but we can also give out a few positives to some areas. Even with all the mistakes, there were some guys who didn’t stop competing until the final whistle sounded.
Overall, though, it was a horrendous performance. And you’ll certainly see that with the grades we are about to give out to everybody. So let’s go ahead and take a look at our Tennessee football report card following their loss to the Florida Gators.
