The Auburn Tigers could be below the Kentucky Wildcats in our SEC Power Rankings at this moment, but their one-point loss to the LSU Tigers remains more impressive than any UK win right now, even if it was at home. Meanwhile, they have a huge win against the Washington Huskies that’s looking better by the week.

So for now, Gus Malzahn’s team is still one of the top four teams in the league. Even with such a heartbreaking loss, these guys still have everything in front of them, and there’s a chance they could somehow get back into first in the West. There’s a lot of football left to play.

A home game this week against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles is another cupcake win to get this team to 4-1, and then they begin their SEC gauntlet. But it’s all a collection of winnable games, including the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road, the Tennessee Vols at home, the Ole Miss Rebels on the road and the Texas A&M Aggies at home.

Ahead of their road showdown with the Georgia Bulldogs, it’s likely the Tigers would right now be favored in all of those games. So they should get to 8-1 before heading to Athens, and until they stumble, we have them up here in these rankings.
