Stocks to sell

Quarterbacks

Jarrett Guarantano’s miscues were mostly not on him Saturday, as Tennessee football’s team as a whole made too many mistakes. The same is largely true of Keller Chryst, so fans don’t want to turn on either guy too much at this moment. And they shouldn’t. But the problem is they still haven’t shown any reason for us to fully believe in them.

The quarterback position still had a horrible stat line on Saturday overall, and with Guarantano maybe hurt now, there are even more issues. Overall, the unit could be in trouble regardless of who starts, but with people shifting their blame elsewhere at this point, it’s a stock to sell before it’s too late.

Defensive backs

Again, this is a unit you can’t blame too much for Saturday night. But that’s because it didn’t have the opportunity for too much blame. Turnovers and miscues spotted the Florida Gators a 33-3 lead before these guys messed up, and to that point, it was a defensive back, Alontae Taylor, who spotted the Vols their only points.

However, the Tennessee football secondary came up short again when it mattered. After a touchdown cut it to 33-13, you could legitimately believe a comeback was on the horizon. Then the secondary let Feleipe Franks torch them. You’re going to continue to see that this year with the 3-4 transition, so don’t believe in this unit at all, even if the secondary is Jeremy Pruitt’s strength.
