No.2 – Elijah Holyfield, Running Back

Sticking with the running back position, Elijah Holyfield is another player on our list to watch for on Saturday. He is only three rushing yards shy from his 293 total last season and is turning into the Bulldogs lead back.

He probably won’t be the started anytime soon because of the respect of Swift. However, don’t let that fool you, Holyfield is solid.

  • 100 rushing yards against Middle Tennesee State on only eight rushing attempts marks a career day for the junior running back.

Last week against Missouri, Holyfield, was only ten yards shy of back-to-back 100-yard games. He finished the game with 90 rushing yards on 14 attempts.

Saying he is a tough runner is an understatement. Holyfield isn’t afraid to run the defender over. And, there is also his speed. He has the speed to break away from the defense once he hits the edge.

In each of the four games this season, Holyfield has broken at least one run for 15-yards or longer. Against a weak defensive line from the Vols, we should fully expect for him to have a solid rushing day.

He is currently riding a two-game drought being held out of the end zone, that should change this Saturday.

Holyfield has the potential to rush for close to 100 rushing yards with a touchdown or two. If his offensive line can block, the Vols need to watch out.
