Tennessee football has another brutal game for us to cover this week. The Volunteers at the Georgia Bulldogs lead our SEC and Top 25 predictions.

It wasn’t just a bad week for Tennessee football. This website took a brutal hit on our gambling picks, even if we did well straight-up. Things just aren’t going well for Rocky Top or the people who cover Rocky Top.

After nine games last week, only one of which was non-conference, we all took a major drop. It was a bloodbath as bad as the Vols’ turnovers against the Florida Gators. Here’s a look at how we fared during the fourth week of the 2018 season.

Week 4 recap: (Record on gambling picks are tiebreakers)

Caleb Calhoun: 14-13 overall

6-3 straight-up, 8-10 gambling (3-6 ATS, 5-4 O/U)

Billy Williford: 12-15 overall

6-3 straight-up, 6-12 gambling (2-7 ATS, 4-5 O/U )

Garrett Sanders: 12-15 overall

6-3 straight-up, 6-12 gambling (2-7 ATS, 4-5 O/U)

Record on unanimous gambling picks: 3-6

As you can see, despite winning records straight-up, we all had losing records against the spread, and only one of us had a winning record on the over/under. To make matters worse, our unanimous gambling picks were abysmal as well. Here’s where that leaves each of us on staff standing overall.

Overall standings

Billy Williford: 83-48 overall

42-9 straight-up, 41-39 gambling (19-21 ATS, 22-18 O/U)

Garrett Sanders: 79-52 overall

39-12 straight-up, 40-40 gambling (21-19 ATS, 19-21 O/U)

Caleb Calhoun 77-54 overall

40-11 straight-up, 37-43 gambling (15-25 ATS, 22-18 O/U)

Overall record on unanimous gambling picks: 15-16

So we still all have winning records straight up, but we are below .500 on our unanimous gambling picks, and only one of us is above .500 overall in gambling. One of us is .500 exactly, and one of us is badly below .500.

But we have a chance to make things right this week, even if Tennessee football is in for another rude awakening. The SEC season is fully underway, and this week, we have an amazing slate of games in and out of the conference.

This includes three games in which an SEC team plays a non-conference Group of Five team, one of whom plays an FCS team. There are five other games between two SEC teams, and then we have five non-conference Top 25 games, making for 13 games overall.

Looking at that, the week is stacked, and most of the excitement is out of the conference. Take a look here to see if we’ll do any better with out picks. These are our Week 5 Tennessee football, SEC and Top 25 predictions.
