Ole Miss Rebels at No. 5 LSU Tigers

Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. E.T.; Tiger Stadium; Baton Rouge, La.

TV: ESPN; Line: LSU -10.5; Over/Under: 59.5

Ed Orgeron’s LSU Tigers finally had a letdown on the spread last week with an ugly win against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Surprisingly, while their offense was as disappointing as expected considering it hasn’t scored 40 points yet this year, the defense was also disappointing by giving up 21 points. Depth on that side is now a question. That could be an issue against an Ole Miss team that likes to throw it around under former Tennessee football assistant Matt Luke.

But the big thing working in LSU’s favor is playing at Tiger Stadium. They’ll establish their style early and won’t let the Rebels get anything going. As a result, take LSU to win and cover, but also take the under. It’s that type of ugly SEC victory once again for the team with the most impressive resume in the conference.

LSU: 31 Ole Miss: 17 (LSU -10.5; Under 59.5)

LSU needs to put out Ole Miss away early. Ole Miss's offense is very dangerous and could pose to be a threat if LSU doesn’t do what they need to do. The key to this game will be for LSU to play ball control and keep the ball away from Ole Miss.

So far Ole Miss’s defense hasn’t proved that they can stop any offense. This is what will keep Ole Miss from winning this game. Expect LSU to stick to their mojo and play ball control. In the end, this is precisely what will happen.

LSU: 28 Ole Miss: 10 (LSU -10.5; Under 59.5)

Billy Williford

Who are you and what have you done with the real LSU football team? Seriously, number five in the nation with two top ten wins at the time of the game. I’m not going to get ahead of myself because the Tigers look legit.

However, this is a scary game. If Ole Miss can get their passing attack going, we could have a shootout. But, LSU is just too good defensively to let that happen. We saw Alabama shut down the Rebels and the Tigers will do the same thing.
