Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide

Saturday, Sept. 29 at Noon E.T.; Bryant-Denny Stadium; Tuscaloosa, Ala.

TV: SEC Network; Line: Alabama -48.5; Over/Under: 67

Caleb Calhoun

I was finally right last week on betting against the Alabama Crimson Tide to cover their insanely high spread. By not doing so, it was almost like a loss for that team. You would think their mood was as somber as Tennessee football’s after last Saturday night’s loss!

Anyway, that was more about the Texas A&M Aggies. With the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns coming to town this week and Nick Saban’s anger as a perfectionist hitting home with the players, I’ve actually got them covering an even more excessively high spread. Crazy, I know. But this will get ugly fast.

Alabama: 65 Louisiana-Lafayette: 3 (Alabama -48.5; Over 67)

Garrett Sanders

As long as Tua Tagovailoa is under center at quarterback for Alabama, they’re guaranteed at least one big play every game. As for the Louisiana-Lafayette secondary, they have given up big play after big play to offenses that are nowhere near as talented as what they are about to face in Alabama.

Alabama’s run game was non-existent against Texas A&M. If they are going to win a national championship, they need to improve on the ground. Nick Saban knows this better than anyone. Expect the Tide  to pound the rock all game long. In the long run of things, Alabama will win this game off of ball control by forcing a bunch of turnovers. It won’t be close, period.

Alabama: 63 Louisiana: 7 (Alabama -48.5; Over 67)

Billy Williford

Every week it’s the same stuff with Alabama. They are really good, and it doesn’t appear they are going to lose any time soon. Well, that isn’t a question this game. Zero percent chance the Tide drops this game; I don’t care if Louisiana played Georgia to a 14-point game two seasons ago.

I almost feel dumb not taking Alabama here, but the spread is almost 50 points. 50 points! Let me say, I think Alabama could beat most team 100-0, but they don’t get it here.

Alabama: 56 Louisiana-Lafayette: 10 (Louisiana-Lafayette +48.5; Under 67)
