No. 12 West Virginia Mountaineers at No. 25 Texas Tech Red Raiders

Saturday, Sept. 29 at Noon E.T.; Jones AT&T Stadium; Lubbock, Texas

TV: ESPN2; Line: West Virginia -3.5; Over/Under: 72

This is an exciting Big 12 shootout for a Saturday afternoon. The Texas Tech Red Raiders have recovered from that season-opening loss to the Ole Miss Rebels to win three straight, and all of a sudden Kliff Kingsbury’s team looks really dangerous after an amazing win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys last week. But coming to town are the West Virginia Mountaineers.

WVU’s dominating win over Tennessee football looks less impressive by the day. And they are in Lubbock, so this pick could be difficult. In a game that is sure to be a shootout, I’m putting my money on the team with the Heisman-caliber quarterback. Will Grier will have his way with this defense en route to six touchdowns overall, and the Mountaineers will win a basketball game Saturday afternoon. Take West Virginia to cover, and take the over with ease.

West Virginia: 59 Texas Tech: 45 (West Virginia -3.5; Over 72)

This matchup will be a fun one to watch, that is if you like high scoring affairs. Both defenses will be tested. The key will be who can have the least amount of mistakes given. Whether it is
penalties or giving up big plays, it will be a significant part on who wants to win this game, which will be very close.

You would think Texas Tech being at home is huge for the Red Raiders. But don’t let that fool you. Texas Tech has had these types of matchups recently at home and lost some very close games over the past couple of years. West Virginia is the more talented team. Will Grier will have yet another Heisman performance proving he is one of the best players in College Football. In the end, the Mountaineers will get out of Lubbock in a very tightly contested game with a win.

West Virginia: 45 Texas Tech: 41 (West Virginia -3.5; Over 72)

I found the 12:00 pm game I’ll be watching. I don’t know what to make of West Virginia yet. Tennessee was in the game with them for a half, and by now we all know the Vols aren’t that good.

This game is sort of a tricky one because you don’t know which Texas Tech team you’re going to get. The one that gave up 47 points to Ole Miss in a 20-point loss? The one who gave up 49 points to Houston? Or the one that beat No. 15 Oklahoma State last Saturday 41-17?

Both teams can score points. West Virginia is averaging 42.3 points with 545.3 total yards of offense, and Texas Tech is averaging 52 points with 623.5 total yards of offense.

West Virginia: 40 Texas Tech: 38 (Texas Tech +3.5; Over: 72)
