No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes at No. 9 Penn State Nittany Lions

Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m. E.T.; Beaver Stadium; University Park, Pa.

TV: ABC; Line: Ohio State -3.5; Over/Under: 71

This could be the Big Ten game of the year. The Penn State Nittany Lions haven’t lost a beat offensively since losing Joe Moorhead AND Saquon Barkley. It’s similar to how their program got better AFTER losing Bob Shoop to Tennessee football. Meanwhile, the Ohio State Buckeyes are angry after all the Urban Meyer drama, and they want to embarrass the league.

The last two games in this series have been thrillers, and the opposite team should have won each time. So what happens here? Despite facing no real talent yet and almost losing to the Appalacian State Mountaineers to open the season, I say Penn State is just as angry about being underdogs at home. And that’s why I’m putting my money on James Franklin and them to pull off the upset. Take the Nittany Lions, but in such a thriller, take the under.

This game is huge for both teams. This very well could decide who will make the College Football Playoff for the Big Ten. The White Out in Happy Valley will be a ruckus environment to play in. With Urban Meyer coming back, it should help the Buckeyes. However, James Franklin has this team out on a mission.

Penn State’s offense has been on a roll lately. Add to the fact that Ohio State’s defense has given up a significantly huge amount of points this season, it doesn’t spell good news for the Buckeyes. Ohio State will score points too, but overall, it will be Penn State’s defense that does enough to come out with the victory in what should be yet another instant classic.

Penn State: 31 Ohio State: 21 (Penn State +3.5; Under 71)

It doesn’t get much better than this. Two top ten teams battling it out for essentially a spot in the playoffs. We all know about the mess Ohio State has been off the field with the Urban Meyer situation, but on the field, they haven’t skipped a beat.

The Buckeyes haven’t had a close game yet. In fact, they beat a ranked TCU team 40-28. On the other hand, Penn State about had a disastrous start to their season when Appalachian State took them into overtime. But, since then their closest game was a 63-24 win against Illinois.
