Tom H writes…Are we witnessing the worst Tennessee team to ever play in the SEC?

No. Yes. Maybe. Heck, I don’t know.

There is honestly no way for me to know the answer to that question. But, for the sake of giving you an answer here you go.

I was born in 1990 and by 1992 the SEC had two divisions that we all know as the East and the West. So, we will start our list from there. Here is a list of some of the worst teams regarding SEC records in back-to-back seasons.

1996-97 Vanderbilt – 0-16

2001-02 Vanderbilt – 0-16

2003-04 Vanderbilt – 2-14

2010-11 Ole Miss – 1-15

2011-12 Tennessee – 2-14

2012-13 Kentucky – 0-16

2017-Present Tennessee – 0-9

Only three times in since 1992 has an SEC team gone winless in conference play in back-to-back seasons. Does that answer your question?

It’s hard to say the Vols have the worst team since 1992 because Vanderbilt was horrible. Back in the early 2000s, the Commodores had a five-year stretch where they only won three conference games.

As mentioned early, I think the Vols go 0-8 in the SEC again this season. So, yes I think you could put the 2017-18 Volunteers in the conversation as the worst team in the SEC since 1992.

As always great questions from you guys. Hopefully, the Vols can keep it close tomorrow and show some fight. I’m not sure Volnation can handle another team that quits every game.
