Week 4 of the NFL season is in the books, and former Vols continue to have success in the league. Especially running back Alvin Kamara.
Volnation is sick and tired of hearing about the stupidity of former Tennessee football coach Butch Jones. Yet, every single week we are painfully reminded by the outstanding play of Alvin Kamara. What could have been in 2016 if Jones wouldn’t have been an idiot.
Crazy to say but Kamara is making the argument that he is the best running back in the NFL.
This past week he accomplished a feat no other player in the history of the league has accomplished. According to EliasSports, Kamara is the first player in NFL history to have 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards through his first 20 career games.
In Week 4 against the New York Giants, Kamara ran for 134 yards on 19 attempts with three touchdowns. He also added five receptions for 47 yards. Kamara’s six touchdowns tie him with the Rams’ Todd Gurley and Falcons’ Calvin Ridley with the most in the league.
Eagles’ Derek Barnett also performed at a high level on Sunday in a thriller against the Tennessee Titans. Barnett started the game and recorded three tackles with one sack.
Former Vol wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson found the end zone for the first time this season. In a 38-7 beatdown of the Miami Dolphins, Patterson had three receptions for 54 yards with one touchdown.
Remember Trevor Daniel? Okay, of course, you do. I’m sure it comes as no surprise that he is settling into his role with the Houston Texans just nicely. In Week 4, Daniel had a 41.4-yard average with a long of 51 yards. He also downed a remarkable four punts inside the 20-yard line.
Former great, Eric Berry is still inactive. Despite what NFL team you cheer for, everyone Vols fan wants to see Berry back on the field. Other inactives included John Kelly, Justin Hunter, Kahlil McKenzie, and Alex Ellis.
It was a pretty solid week for former Vols. Alvin Kamara clearly is holding the crown for the most dominate Vol in the NFL through four weeks. Can someone else step up and challenge him?
