Tennessee football’s open date comes with a lot of other exciting games. Here are our SEC and Top 25 predictions during the Volunteers’ off week.
While Tennessee football is getting a much-needed bye week, there are a lot of other games with more national implications on the year. That’s in the SEC and across the country, and it’s what makes this week still exciting. Vols fans can watch without the fear that their team is going to lose another game.
After 13 games last week, we had a major reshuffling of how we stack up against each other. Here’s a look at how we each performed during Week 4 games and then what we did with our unanimous picks.
Week 4 recap: (Record on gambling picks are tiebreakers)
Caleb Calhoun: 27-10 overall
11-2 straight-up, 16-8 gambling (7-5 ATS, 9-3 O/U)
Garrett Sanders: 27-10 overall
12-1 straight-up, 15-9 gambling (8-4 ATS, 7-5 O/U)
Billy Williford: 19-18 overall
10-3 straight-up, 9-15 gambling (3-9 ATS, 6-6 O/U)
Record on unanimous gambling picks: 4-4
As you can see, our unanimous picks were once again useless. You would’ve just hit par. But that’s better than the bloodbath we suffered last week. And two of us were amazing on our overall picks. It completely reshuffled how we stack up against each other for the overall year. Here’s a look at those standings now.
Overall standings
Garrett Sanders: 106-62 overall
51-13 straight-up, 55-49 gambling (29-23 ATS, 26-26 O/U)
Caleb Calhoun 104-64 overall
51-13 straight-up, 53-51 gambling (22-30 ATS, 31-21 O/U)
Billy Williford: 102-66 overall
52-12 straight-up, 50-54 gambling (22-30 ATS, 28-24 O/U)
Overall record on unanimous gambling picks: 19-20
Again, our unanimous gambling picks remain below .500. But last Saturday showed that one great week can change anything. So we’re going to give it another shot this week, just as Tennessee football is in its bye week to work on having another shot at turning things around beginning next week.
Without the Vols, there are plenty of games, though. October is in full swing, and the SEC is as exciting as ever. Unfortunately, that’s where almost all the excitement is this week, unlike all the national games last week.
There are seven SEC games to bring you overall, with six games involving two SEC teams going against each other and another involving an SEC school against a Group of Five team. We also have two national games between two Top 25 teams to bring you, which makes for nine games overall to predict.
So whatever happens to the standings this week remains to be seen. But we’re going to turn things around with our unanimous gambling picks. Let’s take our shot now with our Week 6 SEC and Top 25 predictions while Tennessee football enjoys a bye.
