The 2018-19 Tennessee basketball season is among us. Here is a preview of the frontcourt. Can Grant Williams win SEC Player of the Year again?

It’s early October, and we are already talking about basketball in Knoxville, Tennessee. Crazy right? No matter how you feel, it is much deserved and not because the football program is struggling at the moment. The basketball Vols are going to be good. Probably, really good. Or at least expectations are set relevantly high with a preseason top ten ranking.

How will they handle the hype?

I think this team is mature enough to handle the hype. However, that doesn’t mean they won’t drop a game or two early with their tough nonconference schedule.

The Vols were projected to finish 13th in the SEC last season. So they did sneak up on a few teams but once teams knew the Vols could play, didn’t the projections fly out the window? Once the Vols were a top three team in the SEC standings, didn’t teams take them seriously?

I think so, and they handled the pressure quite well. Tennessee pieced together two six-game winning streaks from January 20 to the end of the season. They went on to play in the SEC Championship Game and received a three seed in the NCAA Tournament.

In this post, we are going to break down the frontcourt for the 2018-19 season. Who are the projected starters? Who is coming off the bench to help Lamonte Turner? And, what questions do we have for the season?

It would be ridiculous for me to discredit the guard play for this upcoming team. But, if the frontcourt players can have good seasons, the Vols could be a Final Four squad.
