The Tennessee Volunteers did not play, and that did not help them in our SEC Power Rankings following Week 6 of the 2018 college football season.

It was a crazy shakeup for a lot of the teams in our SEC Power Rankings over the weekend. However, as you’ll see soon enough, not much changed on the bottom, and that includes Tennessee football coming off of a bye week.

Still, three higher ranked teams lost on the weekend, and all but one of the home teams won their game. The only team who would win on the road is pretty predictable if you’ve followed this season so far.

The crazy part about this week’s SEC Power Rankings is we had to switch around tiers. Lots of teams moved into different categories, and it completely jumbled a lot of the rankings. That makes for an interesting rest of the year.

There are roughly four tiers, but only two teams belong in the top tier now. At this point in the year, there have been no inconsistencies in the head to head match-ups either, so we’ve been able to use circular logic to do our rankings.

How long that lasts remains to be seen, but it’s pretty interesting that such a level of consistency in the conference could carry itself all the way to the second weekend in October. That doesn’t mean it will continue, though, as there are quite a few toss-up games this weekend.

But before we get to that, how is everybody stacking up right now? In a weekend of significant jumps, who gained the most? Find out with our SEC Power Rankings following Week 6 of the 2018 college football season.
