The 2018-19 Tennessee basketball season is among us. Here is a preview of the backcourt. Can Jordan Bone be stopped? Can Bowden find his confidence again?

We all know just how much Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield meant to the 2017-18 Tennessee basketball team. They do deserve all the credit in the world, without them, the Vols simply wouldn’t have been as successful last season.

But, let’s not forget how good the guard play was. At times they were unstoppable. Some games they played as good as anyone in the SEC. And, of course, there were those times where Williams and Schofield had to carry the team to victory.

Moving forward into the 2018-19 season the backcourt is going to be thin, almost too thin. However, there is a lot of experience behind three players that will again play significant minutes this upcoming season.

Jordan Bone has played in a total of 58 games and started in 50 of them. He missed a few games starting last season due to an injury. Jordan Bowden has started 63 of the 65 games during his career with the Vols. Then, there is Lamonte Turner who hasn’t started a lot of games but is vital to the success of the team and has seen action in 67 games.

In this post, we are going to break down the backcourt for the 2018-19 season. Who are the projected starters? Who is coming off the bench to help Lamonte Turner? And, what questions do we have for the season?

Can the guards help Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield turn this into a team that can contend for a Final Four? That is a question that everyone is asking.
