Vols continue practicing, prepare for Auburn – Ryan Callahan, GoVols247

The Tennessee Vols football team is still looking to get better, specifically on offense, and that was a focus of practice Tuesday. Throughout the day, different players spoke with the media as well. Drew Richmond said the Vols aren’t quitter, Daniel Bituli called Pruitt the most consistent coach, Trey Smith said he’s enjoying time at left tackle, and Alexis Johnson talked about waiting his turn to thrive with the program. On top of all that, Baylen Buchanan as part of a secondary shuffle to play star was a notable outcome of the practice.

"Two periods of Tennessee’s practice Tuesday at Haslam Field were open to media. The early portion of the practice featured some routes-on-air passing drills for the Vols’ wide receivers and quarterbacks, while their tight ends and offensive linemen worked on blocking assignments and techniques, showing some different combinations on the offensive line."

Former Tennessee Vols football defensive lineman Ryan Thaxton, who was dismissed from the team back in the summer, pled guilty to one count of false imprisonment. However, he does have the chance to have his charge dismissed. The charges stem from a July argument Thaxton had with his girlfriend that police say got physical.

"Thaxton’s lawyer, Keith Lowe, said Tuesday the guilty plea was deferred and the charge against the 19-year-old will be dismissed if Thaxton pays court costs, takes anger management classes and avoids legal trouble for the next 11 months, 29 days.A domestic assault charge against Thaxton was dropped."
