No. 14 Florida Gators at Vanderbilt Commodores

Saturday, Oct. 13 at Noon E.T.; Vanderbilt Stadium; Nashville, Tenn.

TV: ESPN; Line: Florida -7; Over/Under: 50.5

It’s no secret that Florida has been the surprise of the SEC so far this season. Sure, they had an early season loss to Kentucky but let’s be real, that game was ruined by the officiating. Had there been better officiating, we would be talking about Florida not just as SEC East contenders, but Playoff contenders as well. As for Vanderbilt, they seemed to be a threat to revamp the SEC East picture completely. Unfortunately, that thought has come back down to Earth for the Commodores.

As far as this game is concerned, this will feature two struggling offenses being able to put up points on the board. However, the difference between these teams is one defense is much more superior than the other. Florida’s defensive line is going to be putting the heat on Kyle Shurmur. This will lead to turnovers. Those turnovers will turn into points. This game is going to be very similar to how Florida and Tennessee played out. Florida is back everyone. This game will prove why.

Florida: 28 Vanderbilt: 10 (Florida -7; Under 50.5)

Ever since blowing out Tennessee football, the Florida Gators have proven they are legit. That early season loss to the Kentucky Wildcats doesn’t look nearly as bad, and Dan Mullen has his team on a roll. The opposite is true in Nashville. Once again, Derek Mason’s team hit reality as it reached SEC play.

I’ve got my money on that reality continuing through this weekend. Florida will blow out Vanderbilt, shutting down their offense largely. The question is if the Gators will shut down their offense enough and limit their scoring against Vanderbilt’s bad defense to keep the under at 50.5. I think it will, so take Florida to cover in Nashville, and take the under.

Florida: 31 Vanderbilt: 10 (Florida -7; Under 50.5)

Flordia is coming off a couple of big wins, and it appears that they are for real. After an early loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, Dan Mullen has the Gators on a four-game winning streak with two top 25 wins.

Vanderbilt, on the other hand, started the season off strong and almost went to Notre Dame and pulled the upset. However, they a sliding in the opposite direction. Barely sneaking past Tennessee State 31-27 and getting demolished by Georgia 41-13.

Florida: 23 Vanderbilt: 17 (Vanderbilt +7; Under 50.5)
