In every SEC game this year, the Alabama Crimson Tide have looked vulnerable at times on defense. One of the key areas where they’ve looked vulnerable in defending the pass was stopping the tight ends.

All three SEC games featured a tight end either first or second on the team in receiving. Tennessee football just saw the coming out party of its elite receivers against the Auburn Tigers. Nick Saban will likely put a heavy focus once again on Jauan Jennings, Josh Palmer and Marquez Callaway. Jeremy Pruitt and Tyson Helton haven’t used the tight end spot much in recent weeks.

As a result, this leaves the chance for that position to help them shock the world on Saturday. Dominick Wood-Anderson is day to day right now, but if he’s good to go, it’s the perfect setup. The junior college transfer was a four-star recruited specifically for his receiving ability, and Alabama is the school Tennessee beat out to get him. How epic would it be if Wood-Anderson had his breakout game against the Tide?

It’s not crazy to think about. We already mentioned that Alabama is vulnerable at defending tight ends and even less likely to focus on them this week. On top of that, they have numerous injuries among linebackers who would be guarding those guys. So the Vols have an advantage to exploit. If not Wood-Anderson, count on Eli Wolf. But one of those guys could be huge Saturday.
