No.2 – Jalen Hurts, Quarterback

Yes, I know he isn’t the starting quarterback but to not have Jalen Hurts on our list would be crazy. Alabama playing two quarterbacks that have different strengths is scary for the defense.

  • Here is a look at the previous two games Hurts has had against the Vols.

2017 – 13-for-21 for 198 passing yards with one touchdown and zero interceptions. He also had five rushes for 14 yards.

2016 – 17-for-27 for 172 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception. He added 12 rushes for 132 yards and three touchdowns.

Hurts has absolutely crushed Tennessee in his career and what’s scary is he is looking the best he has ever looked throwing the football.

It is a smaller sample size, but for the first time in his career, he is completing over 65 percent of his passes. This season he is actually all the way up to 74 percent.

He has an 11.4 yard per attempt average with five touchdowns and only one interception. Where we have seen a declined is in his rushing game, he only has 26 attempts for 112 yards with zero touchdowns.

If the Vols want to have a chance in this game, they have to stop Hurts just as much as they need to stop Tagovailoa. More on him next.
