Jeremy Pruitt and the Tennessee football team get their chance to take down the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday afternoon. There are so many questions surrounding the game.

Can Pruitt become the first Saban assistant to knock him off? Will Tua finally throw an interception against the young but talented defense of the Vols? Will Tennessee continue to show improvement?

The Vols sit at 3-3 on the season which is just about where most fans predicted from the start of the season. If you were like me, I thought the Vols would beat Florida and lose to Auburn. But, either way, they take a 3-3 record into the game.

One November 28. 1901 Alabama and Tennesse had their first meeting which ended in a 6-6 tie. The Tide won eight out of the first ten meetings. It wasn’t till 1951 for the Vols to square up the series. Most recently, the Vols have dropped 11 straight and this season doesn’t appear to be much different.

Tennessee is coming off their most impressive win since the Florida game in 2016. Jeremy Pruitt took his Volunteers into Jordan-Hare and beat a ranked Auburn Tigers team. Sure, make the argument all you want about Auburn being overrated, they didn’t lose the game, the Vols won it, and quarterback Jarrett Guarantano was a big reason why.

Guarantano finished the game 21-for-32 with 328 yards passing which was a career high. He added two touchdowns and protected the ball with zero interceptions. We’ve said it all season, Guarantano hasn’t been the problem with the offensive. If the offensive line can continue to improve, Guarantano might have a great second half of the season.

Speaking of the offensive line, can they block for the running backs? Ty Chandler looked 100 percent healthy and showed last week why he needs the ball more. He didn’t have many rushing yards, but he got it done catching the ball out of the backfield with five receptions for 62 yards and one touchdown.

There is really nothing I can say about Alabama that hasn’t been said. And, what sucks is it’s all good things. The Tide are the best team in the nation, again. This year they have a quarterback, and their offense looks unstoppable. Actually, forget looks, it is unstoppable.

In seven games they have yet to score a touchdown on their first drive of the game. No team has come within 20 points of them, and Tua Tagovailoa hasn’t thrown an interception all season. He currently holds a 21-to-0 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

In five of the seven games, Alabama has scored at least 50 points or more. That’s primarily with the starters sitting out the entire fourth quarter. Despite the losses, since 2015 Alabama has only been in six games that were decided by ten points or less.

Not to be negative but the Vols really don’t have a chance in this game. Not this year. However, the future is bright under Pruitt. I think Alabama is too good and Tennessee just isn’t ready for this big of a game. Alabama 45 Tennessee 17.
