Just a week ago Jarrett Guarantano threw for a career-high 328 yards against the Auburn Tigers. But, a bad performance against Alabama has everyone second-guessing Jeremy Pruitt’s decision making him the starter.

Must Read. 5 takeaways: Alabama treats Vols like everyone else. light

In today’s society, sports fans all around the country have memories just as good as bees. For years, Scientists have mocked the memory of the bee species because of their horrible memory that only last seconds. Most of the time, the same applies to sports fans.

Hear me out for a minute; I’m not hating on Tennessee football fans, I am one. I love the Vols just as much as anyone else. If there is any fanbase in the nation that deserves credit, it’s Volnation. My entire adult life, if something terrible could happen, it happened to the Vols.

I know what you hear on Twitter has to be taken with a grain of salt thanks to all the trolls and the lack of anyone wanting to have an actual conversation. However VolTwitter, or at least some the ones that like to voice their opinions think a quarterback change is needed in Knoxville.

Russell Smith, radio personality for FoxSportsKnoxville posted a Twitter poll asking fans which quarterback should start next week against South Carolina. With 1,161 votes accounted for, Guarantano has a slight edge with 55 percent.

I’m not knocking anyone who thinks Keller Chryst is the better option at quarterback, that’s your opinion and being able to discuss such a topic is what makes sports great. However, why are we taking the game against Alabama in consideration?

I’ll be the first to admit for the first time this season Chryst looked halfway decent as a quarterback. He threw the ball away, which is some Guarantano fails to do. He also got rid of the ball quickly before the pressure got to him, again something Guarantano fails to do.

However, I’m not going to let a couple of throws change my outlook on the quarterback situation. Tennessee fans have been let down in the past couple of years with incompetent coaching decisions, so trusting coaching isn’t easy. However, I think Jeremy Pruitt and Butch Jones are on two different levels.

Next. Alabama hangover looming against South Carolina?. dark

Pruitt is going to play the best guy at every position; we have to give him credit for that until he proves us wrong. If Chryst is a better quarterback, he will play more. But, he isn’t doing enough in practice to give the coaches confidence in him. If Chryst plays this week at South Carolina, that’s fine, but if Guarantano is healthy, he should be the starter. Time will tell, but Pruitt will play the option to give the Vols chance to win.
