Tennessee football still can’t run the ball. But Ty Chandler still somehow finds ways to make plays as a running back. This week, as the team once again only had 24 carries for 66 yards when you don’t include sacks, Tim Jordan was actually the leader on the ground with 14 carries for 50 yards.

He also had a reception for seven yards. But once again, Chandler was the star in the passing game. While only rushing for 21 yards, he caught three passes for 39 yards and a touchdown, making history in the process.

Chandler is now the first Vols running back to have a touchdown reception in three consecutive games. He’s proving to be a very dynamic player, and Jeremy Pruitt and Tyson Helton continue to find ways to get him involved in the game even if the run isn’t there.

There is one gaffe in this game, as he waved for a fair catch after catching a kickoff, which means you get the ball where you waved for it instead of the 25-yard-line. And that set up a safety. But Chandler continues to compete hard, and that counts.

Perhaps the most impressive part of his play is one of his receptions came when he was sent in motion and lined up as a wideout. He caught the pass on a hot route, showing he could truly play receiver if he wanted to.
