Tennessee football drops their 12th straight in the annual rivalry, Third Saturday in October. Here is how the Tennessee Volunteers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide broke down by the numbers.

Must Read. 5 takeaways: Alabama treats Vols like everyone else. light

The Third Saturday in October wasn’t kind to Jeremy Pruitt in his first go around. We all knew a beatdown was coming; we just didn’t know how bad it would get. We shortly realized within the first five minutes of the game it would get out of control.

The loss doesn’t hurt the Vols nor does it affect the rest of the season. Tennessee could win out and have an eight-win season. Jeremy Pruitt would surely win coach of the year in the SEC, right?

Here is a look at how the game broke down by the numbers.

102- receiving yards for wide receiver Jauan Jennings. The dog is healthy, and he is playing better than anyone on the team. His six receptions led both teams. He would have led both teams in receiving yards if it wasn’t for Jaylen Waddle.

94.2- quarterback rating for Keller Chryst. When Chryst came into the game, the Tennessee offense starting moving the ball. He finished the game 9-for-15 with 164 yards passing and two touchdowns. Chryst had a better QBR than Tua Tagovailoa whos QBR was 93.7.

58- points mark the highest scoring total in the history of the rivalry. The second highest total of 56  was scored by the Crimson Tide back in 1986.

31- rushing yards for the Vols as a whole. This number is a tad misleading based on the three sacks quarterback Jarrett Guarantano took for -30 yards. Tim Jordan led Tennessee with 50 rushing yards on 14 carries.

30- first downs for Alabama. The Tide had more first downs than the Vols had points. Alabama averaged 5.2 yards per carry and was getting to the second level of the Vols defense with ease.

27- return yards from Kyle Phillips on a Jalen Hurts interception. The senior defensive linemen would not be denied on getting in the end zone on the first interception of his career.

8- tackles for Vols safety Nigel Warrior. Fellow teammates Daniel Bituli and Quart’e Sapp both had eight tackles as well.

3- games in a row that Ty Chandler scored a receiving touchdown. The 39-yard touchdown grab gives Chandler a Tennessee football record. Chandler became the first running back in Tennessee history to score a receiving touchdown in three straight games.

0- percent chance Butch Jones had anything to do with Alabama winning the football game. Jones made his return back to Neyland Stadium with no shame. He was even pictured smoking a winning cigar with Alabama players, yet he didn’t have anything to do with the win. Well, actually he didn’t put Tennessee in this horrible position.

Next. Guarantano’s career game against Auburn wasn’t enough for some Vol fans. dark

The Vols travel to Columbia, SC to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. Tennessee needs to bounce back with a win to have a chance at a bowl game.
